Burlap runners add the rustic look to your home or to a wedding table. While ready made burlap table runners are available for purchase in the market both off the shelf and online, it would make a great idea to make one by oneself.

Burlap rolls are available for sale online and they can be bought and delivered to your doorstep. To make a good burlap runner you need to follow the following steps.

1. Determine the length and width of the runner,( or wreath as shown below) ) which you want to make and order your burlap length online. It would be advisable to decide on the number of runners to be made and then order them all at the same time, because of the great discounts available on bulk purchase.

2. To prevent fraying of the edges use a liquid seam sealer or stich the sides or you can also use the tablecloth with the frayed edges as it is …..the choice is all yours.

Burlap is a great fabric when it comes to sturdiness and rough use. It is also a versatile fabric because of the uses, which it can be put to. Burlap for Runners Place Mats and Rustic Weddings

Kudos to our cutter who has done such a great job cutting. Here are some pictures of the burlap fabric going out. Our wedding planners have commented that they do not have sew or serge them before us, The wider cuts are for aisle runners.

How to Get Rid of the Odor and Smell of your Burlap

Burlap has a natural odor or smell in its inherent state. Occasionally we do get some mention regarding the smell. and we are ready to share with you how to get rid of the smell

To get rid of the smell, there are several ways, which can be resorted to. An easy solution is to use some kind of a deodorant or Fabreeze for instance to remove the smell. Baking soda is also a good alternative as it will soak up the odor, but you will have to shake it out  But this really is not a very good solution, as it will not remove the smell completely from the burlap.

Some of our customers have also tried to wash the burlap to get rid of the smell. But that can get very messy. The best solution to get rid of the smell is to give your burlap some fresh air in the sun. Keeping the burlap in the sun  will help eliminate  the smell completely.

If you are in a hurry, you can even wipe the burlap with a damp cloth and then use a deodorant to get the remaining smell out. Don’t try using soap as it will aggravate the situation and make the process messier.

The original smell is not toxic, it is natural but it will dissipate over time or following the above instructions
