How to Wash Polyester and Synthetic Down Pillows

By Jordan Sotto

Our polyester filled and microfiber filled pillow inserts are very easy to take care of. It can be as simple as throwing them in the washer and dryer. We do have a few recommended guidelines for keeping your pillows fresh and fluffy.

You can clean your polyester filled or synthetic down (microfiber) filled pillow forms both by hand or machine. The more gentle you are with handling the pillows, the longer they should last. If you just need to do a quick spot-clean, we recommend washing by hand, either in a sink/tub or with a spray bottle, you can, of course, just throw it in the machine to save yourself the hand labor. Always check your pillow forms for any punctures prior to washing. If you are using a washing machine, use lukewarm water and set the cycle to the most gentle setting available. Wash Pillow in Machine

When it comes to drying, you can either air dry or use a dryer. If you are using a dryer, use the lowest heat setting.  You can put a tennis ball or two into the dryer along with the pillow forms to keep them fluffy. If you are worried about the tennis balls being too rough with the pillows, you can put them inside socks with the tops tied off, or inside a dryer-safe bag to add an extra layer between them and the pillow inserts. When they come out of the dryer, you can always fluff them up extra high by hand.Dry Pillow in Machine

Whichever way you choose to wash and dry your pillows, either by hand or by machine, the key to pillowform longevity is to handle them very gently.
